Fashion and Beauty Tuesdays: Dress like a Hippie

Have you ever been to a music festival and had your eyes lock on a true free spirit? You know the kind: she’s the person with the daisies in her hair, vegan Birkenstocks that look like they’ve seen a couple sit-in protests, and a long flowing skirt that could have been hand knit by a group of traveling gypsies. In fact, she could very-well be a traveling gypsy. Have you ever envied this free-spirit’s look and wondered how she does it? How does she manage to resemble a real flower child in the 21st century? How does she single-handedly keep the spirit of the sixties alive, while managing to stay fashionable and on-trend? Was she born in the sixties? Did she just step off a time-machine?

Thankfully, I’ve been to enough music festivals and have studied the ways of the Flower Child. She is not an alien- she just knows how to shop. So I am putting this guide together (just in time for summer music festivals) to take the guesswork out of looking and dressing like a modern flower child in the 21st century.

However, we don’t want to forget: being a flower child does not simply entail a certain look, it entails a way-of-life too! Not only is the Flower Child an impeccable dresser, she is also a believer in universal peace, love, and is an advocate for social justice. The flower child of today, in the 21st century world, protests with her wallet and makes ethical and smart shopping decisions (she’ll attend a rally on occasion). For this reason, I have not only included hippie-chic apparel and accessories, but ethical (made in the USA), fairly traded, and vegan apparel and accessories, as well.

So, take a look at the 4 hippie-rific outfits below and start expressing your inner flower child!
